Shady Business in Jersey Village

The core values of a public entity are built around integrity. The very openness and honesty that bestow a feeling of trust, as if nobody will ever lie to you or pull a fast one to benefit themselves over others.

I’ve spent the better part of a month combing through every available document to see if this topic had been brought before council prior to this date. As I figured, it had not.

It seems that the need to immediately change and increase the hours on serving alcohol only changed when Mayor Andrew Mitcham opened a business called the Senate Avenue Brewing Company. How very convenient. A small community whose health and safety is permeated by the need for drivers in the area to drive sober and safe, you know, for the betterment of the city. No better way to show this by leading the charge, as a city council, to bring up and PASS an ordinance to increase the hours for sale and consumption of alcohol in Jersey Village-totally out of the blue (or was it?). On August 17th, 2020, the City Council made sure to take care of one of their own. Here is the link.

This was an obvious need for the city. Nothing like increasing the profitability of your mayor owned business. Especially while the city has flooding issues, working through a pandemic, a decreasing fund balance, and several major projects that have stalled. Nothing like a city council that keeps their eye on the prize.

It seems the citizens of Jersey Village are in good hands with the council taking such drastic measures to make sure that at least one business is well taken of. So what if it’s owned by the Mayor, Andrew Mitcham.

Nope, no impact whatsoever. Right Mayor Mitcham?
